What is colder than cold?
Ice Cold!
Cold can be good!
Especially right now in the middle of the blazing summer heat!
You know what kind of cold is not good? A head cold, chest cold and the likes!
What does the summer heat and the cold have to do with a cold? Well the truth is that it is not the weather, not some mystery bug that shows up at a certain time of year or anything like that which determines whether you get sick or not. Adverse conditions and viruses are always around!
What is the difference then, coach? You!
Yes, you are the difference. The condition of your body, your stress levels, what you consume and the health of your immune system.
We have seen all too well especially the past few years how two people can come in contact with the same virus and have two totally different levels of sickness come from it or even one person gets sick and the other doesn’t! The difference was how well their immune system took on the challenge!
Before I go further remember I am not a doctor nor giving medical advice rather getting you to take a look at ways to strengthen your body and your immune system to hopefully avoid the perils of getting sick!
Now I am not going to get in depth today but rather stimulate you to go on a quest for answers here!
What can strengthen your immunity?
1) Clean healthy organic foods.
2) Regular exercise
3) Stress reduction
4) Hormesis. “Hor what is” you may ask? Hormesis is the calculate exposure to good stressors on your body. Good stress? Yes like exercise, hot and cold therapy and anything that challenges your body to function at full capacity!
Again, not getting in depth but today I want to introduce you to something I believe in and have been doing with positive results. Cold therapy AKA ice baths!
Also know as cold water plunges. First and foremost make sure to get your medical professions clearance prior to participating as certain people should not due to health conditions but most are not in that group.
Long story short is the cold plunges are extremely good for circulation, mood, immune response and many more areas as I will explain below and on the video!
Let’s take a look at what I am talking about.
Cold plunges, also known as cold baths or ice baths, involve immersing the body in cold water, usually with a temperature below 59°F (15°C). While cold plunges can be uncomfortable for some, they are believed to offer various health benefits, especially when used in combination with other wellness practices. Here are some potential health benefits of cold plunges:
Reduced Muscle Inflammation: Cold plunges are commonly used by athletes and fitness enthusiasts to help reduce muscle inflammation and soreness after intense workouts. The cold temperature constricts blood vessels and reduces blood flow to the muscles, which may help to decrease inflammation and aid in the recovery process.
Improved Circulation: Cold water immersion can lead to vasoconstriction, the narrowing of blood vessels, followed by vasodilation when the body is rewarmed. This process is believed to enhance blood circulation and oxygen delivery to tissues.
Enhanced Immune Function: Some studies suggest that exposure to cold water may stimulate the production of certain immune cells, potentially improving the body’s immune response.
Increased Metabolism: Cold plunges activate the body’s brown adipose tissue, also known as “brown fat,” which generates heat and burns calories. This can potentially contribute to weight management and increased energy expenditure.
Stress Reduction: Cold water exposure triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good hormones, which can help reduce stress and improve mood.
Improved Mental Well-being: Taking cold plunges can be mentally invigorating and may enhance mental clarity, focus, and alertness.
Enhanced Lymphatic System Function: Cold water immersion may help to improve lymphatic circulation, which plays a crucial role in removing waste products and toxins from the body.
Reduced Muscle Soreness and Fatigue: Cold plunges are thought to help reduce delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and post-exercise fatigue, allowing individuals to recover faster between workouts.
Potential Pain Relief: Cold water immersion has been used as a complementary therapy for various pain conditions, as it may temporarily numb pain receptors and reduce discomfort.
It’s important to note that while cold plunges offer potential health benefits, they are not suitable for everyone. People with certain medical conditions, such as heart problems or Raynaud’s disease, should avoid cold water immersion or consult their healthcare provider before trying it.
As with any wellness practice, it’s best to start with shorter durations of cold water exposure and gradually increase the time as you become more accustomed to it. If you have any health concerns or conditions, it’s always a good idea to seek advice from a healthcare professional before incorporating cold plunges into your routine.
Wow! That is pretty impressive yes? Hey Coach, doesn’t it suck to jump in cold water? Nope! It is so unbelievably refreshing that I look forward to it every day!
Wait, that is so expensive to set one of those up, I hear it costs thousands! Nope, I have found an amazing set up from my friends over at Ice Pod for less than $200 you can get a great plunge set up! Remember I am your Coach that also hates to see you waste money. There are $5000 plunge set ups that do the same exact thing as the Ice Pod so why spend all that money when you can get going for a fraction! I was so excited when I got the Pod that I immediately became an affiliate so I could refer you! I do receive a small commission when you use my link AND you get $10 off too!
So I did ultimately by the chiller machine to go with mine as I really don’t want to keep going to get ice (I live in Florida) so that costs a little more but still a much better option than spending thousands. My recommendation is start with the Ice Pod Pro using ice to cool it and then as long as you love it like I do you can always get a chiller later!
The benefits of cold plunge are so amazing I urge you to give it a try and I think you will become a life long cold plunger too!
My friends this is not always going to be an easy journey but I can’t stress enough that you get one life, this is not a rehearsal for the next go round! Live you life today like it matters because it does and it is the only one you get!
With that all said make sure to watch the video, take action today, get some coaching and step up to the life you desire and deserve!
Live with faith, energy, passion and always live your dreams!
