The solution to blue is in the blue!
Do you know what blue can do?
In todays world of so much overload and so much cognitive decline, who could blame you for being blue? No one but you!
Seriously though do you want to end up losing all you have worked for, all the amazing memories that you have created and wind up not even knowing what you had for breakfast?
Today is the day we stop BS’ing ourselves into believing that it is just the way it is as we get older!
I have two hacks to share with you this morning that will make all the difference and even a quick 3rd bonus hack!
The cool part is…. they are easy, anyone can do them and they have been proven by scientific studies!
Here are the ABC’s of improving and maintaining healthy memory!
You ready?
A) Is for activity.
Activity as in physical activity!
When you engage in vigorous activity your brain gets more oxygen and lactate is produced and used as a brain fuel. There is a study of older (65+) adults that showed a 2% reversal in brain size decline when they added 30 minutes of vigorous activity daily!
B) Is for BLUE.
Blue is your friend! YES! Blueberries! There have been massive studies about the effects of the anthrocydens in the blueberries and BDNF (Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factors) actually reverse the age related shrinkage if the hippocampus which is the memory, cognition and neuro-responsive portion of the brain!
C) Is for COFFEE.
Yes! I said it coffee!
Coffee has been and should be a very controversial topic!
The reason why it has been controversial has generally been the caffeine BUT the real controversy is the chemicals!
There are two kinds of chemicals in coffee:
The good being all the phytonutrients and the antioxidants that are in massive amounts in coffee and have been shown to really benefit body and brain health!
The bad….Well you already know that non organic coffees are grown with horrific amount of pesticide (because even bugs love coffee!) and can contain large amounts of mold!
Then there is caffeine, the drug! The determination of bad or good for caffeine would be of course your sensitivity to it and second how much you consume! One cup vs one pot of coffee a day makes a difference!
The other thing to consider with coffee is waiting 30-60 minutes to consume it after awakening!
Quick science lesson here:
1) When you sleep adenosine builds up (hormone that makes you sleepy and foggy)
2) When you awaken it starts to dissipate within the first hour
3) Caffeine blocks the adenosine receptors and keeps it in your blood keeping you sleepy and groggy hence the”I need another cup of coffee to wake up” syndrome!
They way to make the delicious coffee serve you?
