Make A Decision

Nobody Is Coming to Save You: The 5-Second Rule for Life-Changing Decisions

Nobody is coming to save you.

Not your boss. Not your partner. Not your spouse. Not your kids. Not your parents.

That’s not a depressing statement—it’s a powerful one. Because the moment you accept it, you stop waiting… and you start leading.

You are the CEO of your life.

And CEOs make decisions.

Not “someday” decisions. Not “when it’s perfect” decisions. Real decisions—the kind that change the direction of your health, your relationships, your money, your confidence, and your future.

Stop negotiating with yourself

One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves sounds harmless:

  • “I’ll start Monday.”

  • “I’ll just do it one more time.”

  • “Next year will be different.”

  • “I’ll wait until I’m ready.”

That’s not planning. That’s negotiating.

And when you negotiate with yourself long enough, you eventually talk yourself out of the very thing you said you wanted.

If you’ve written the plan 100 times… if you’ve researched the idea… if you’ve watched the videos, listened to the podcasts, saved the quotes… and nothing has changed—there’s only one reason:

You didn’t take action.

The 5-second rule: simple, not easy

I didn’t invent this—Mel Robbins did. But I will tell you this: it works.

Here’s the rule:

When you know what you need to do, count:

5… 4… 3… 2… 1… MOVE.

Because the moment you hesitate beyond five seconds, your brain starts building a case for why you shouldn’t do it.

And every second after that is your comfort zone fighting for its life.

Here’s the truth:

Decision without action is delusion.

It’s a wish list. It’s a dream. It’s a “maybe someday.”

But it’s not a life.

You’ve seen this play out (even if you don’t realize it)

Think about a moment when an idea hit you like lightning.

Maybe you were in a meeting (or just in a conversation), and you had the solution. You felt it. You knew it.

If you spoke up within that first five seconds, one of two things happened:

  • People listened—and you moved things forward.

  • Or they shot it down—and you learned something.

Either way, you moved.

But if you waited? If you started overthinking the timing, the wording, the risk, the “what if”…

Someone else said it.

And you sat there thinking, “That was my idea.”

Yep.

But you didn’t act.

That’s the cost of hesitation.

The opportunity doesn’t wait for you to feel ready

This happens everywhere:

  • You wait to make an offer… and someone else buys the house.

  • You wait to pitch the idea… and someone else gets the promotion.

  • You wait to start the program… and six months disappears.

  • You wait to make the call… and the moment passes.

Now, let me be clear: I’m not telling you to be reckless.

If your gut is screaming “no,” listen.

But if the only thing stopping you is fear? If it’s just discomfort? If it’s that little voice that says, “What if I fail?”

5… 4… 3… 2… 1… MOVE.

Get the ball rolling.

Because once you take action, one of two things becomes obvious fast:

  1. It’s working. Great—do more.

  1. It needs adjustments. Great—adjust.

And sometimes you’ll realize quickly, “This isn’t the move.”

That’s still a win—because you didn’t waste weeks (or months) stuck in your head.

A 3-part framework for better decisions

Here’s a simple framework I want you to keep:

1) If it’s not a “hell yes,” it’s probably a no

If something isn’t compelling, exciting, meaningful, or genuinely fun—why are you doing it?

You’re not here to burn your life away doing things that don’t enrich you, move you forward, serve someone, or light you up.

That doesn’t mean every decision has to be dramatic.

But if you’re constantly saying yes to things that feel like “I guess I should…” you’re trading your time—God’s gift—for obligations that drain you.

2) Speed over perfection

A good decision now beats a perfect decision never.

Waiting for perfect is how you lose opportunities.

Move fast, learn fast, adjust fast.

That’s where the growth is.

3) Decide once—then protect the decision

Once you decide, stop renegotiating.

This shows up in the small stuff and the big stuff.

If you decide you’re getting up early, then get up.

If you decide you’re committing to your health, then commit.

If you decide you’re building something, then protect the time, energy, and focus it takes.

You can adjust strategy. You can refine.

But don’t sabotage your own progress by constantly reopening the decision every time it gets uncomfortable.

The “snooze button” is a mindset

Let’s talk about something simple that represents something huge: hitting snooze.

Every time you hit snooze, you’re training your brain to believe:

  • “I’m not really committed.”

  • “I don’t keep promises to myself.”

  • “Comfort wins.”

And that mindset doesn’t stay in your bedroom.

It follows you into your business, your relationships, your health, and your goals.

So tomorrow morning, when the alarm goes off, try this:

5… 4… 3… 2… 1… MOVE.

Your next step (don’t overthink this)

Here’s what I want you to do today:

  1. Write down one decision you’ve been delaying.

  1. Ask yourself: Is it a hell yes?

  1. If it is—count down and take the first step within five seconds.

Not the whole plan.

Just the first move.

Because nobody is coming to save you.

And that’s the best news you’ll hear all week.

You’re the CEO.

Now act like it.

With that all said make sure to watch the video, take action today, get some coaching and step up to the life you desire and deserve!
