Who controls your time?
You do! Whether you believe it or not!
Welcome back my friends!
Who controls your time?
Do you ever wish that you were in control of your time completely?
Do you live by the alarm clock, the traffic or the bosses time?
Do you find your whole schedule is designed around the kids sporting or school events?
When you feel like someone else controls your time it feels somewhat like being in prison or the military!
What if you designed your life to be in control of your time?
How different would you feel about yourself and your loved ones?
Remember we discussed that time is:
- A measure that you can determine you position along your timelines
- A perception based on your emotional state regarding the task or situation at hand
- Easily shifted from stressful to blissful by appreciation!
Back to the question of who controls your time?
What is your answer?
A common list of time control perceptions:
- The kids! I have to get them ready, to school, to games, doctors etc!
- While this is true that you do need to care for your kids, this can either be stressful or fulfilling! Stressful is feeling like the time you dedicate to the is being “stolen” from you where as you could use appreciation to take that time to really bond with them thus making the time joyous!
- The boss! Do you feel like the boss is always setting deadlines that interfere with your perception of your schedule? Do you feel that they expect more than you can possibly do in a day or week?
- The cure for this is to create a schedule of your own within the schedule that they have for you! What I mean here is to create hacks and shortcuts while anticipating the next curve ball they may throw your way. Reframe it o feel like a challenge or game of how you can be “one step ahead”
- The government or other agencies you have dealings with. (The red tape)
- Planning is the cure! Need to get something done that involves an “agency”? Preplanning and knowing that the time it “should” take and the “real” time frame will eliminate the time stress!
The truth is you are in control of your time, you just need to be ahead of the game to avoid the stresses of other people’s perceptions and expectations of time.
The key is to build your schedule around the non-negotiable responsibilities and to maximize the time you spend on the non-negotiables.
For example:
Getting the kids to school in the mornings but there is a yoga class you really want to take on Wednesday morning and you can never make it!
What are your options?
- Find another parent who would like a different morning off to do something and car pool the alternate days. Wow done! You get your time, the kids get to school and you help someone else. Triple win I would say!
- See if they have an early morning program where you could drop them early and make your class.
- Pay or trade services with someone to take them on Wednesdays
- Put them on the school bus, they won’t melt and will give them a day of social time with friends!
- If none of these work, find a different yoga class at a different time or heck tune in to on YouTube!
The whole point for the example is to open up the possibilities that you really have are endless when you get creative and let go of that feeling that someone else is in control. Getting what you want is always possible but not always simple!
The key is to be innovative and creative!
I could give you endless scenarios here but what we need to do is take the “time” to write out options and possibilities every time you feel like someone else’s expectation is taking your time!
My friends this is not always going to be an easy journey but I can’t stress enough that you get one life, this is not a rehearsal for the next go round! Live you life today like it matters because it does and it is the only one you get!
With that all said make sure to watch the video, take action today, get some coaching and step up to the life you desire and deserve!
Live with faith, energy, passion and always live your dreams!
